In 2019, Kemakta was commissioned by Swedish Waste Management to update the assessment criteria for contaminated soil materials and revise a report from 2007. The new report “2019:01, Updated assessment criteria for contaminated soil materials” presents proposals for concentration limits to determine when contaminated materials should be classified as hazardous waste and covers various substances and substance groups. The update considers changes in legislation, including the Swedish Waste Regulation and EU regulations regarding waste and chemical classification. The work also involved reviewing the selection of chemical substances designated as model substances.
