Water and Environmental Quality

Kemakta’s assignments involve assessing the environmental impacts of various discharges into lakes, rivers, and groundwater due to pollutant discharges from industrial point sources or leakage from contaminated sites.  These assessments are used to determine the need for remediation or requirements for technical solutions to meet environmental quality standards (EQS). Through our work, we have accumulated extensive experience regarding the behavior and effects of various substances in aquatic environments. This includes evaluation of bioavailability and toxicity of pollutants in order to clarify the risks for the environment.

Kemakta also addresses more focused hydrogeological issues in various infrastructure projects, such as the planning of the new City Line and subway lines in Stockholm. In these projects, Kemakta’s expertise has been applied in environmental assessments of the effect of groundwater diversion, developing documentation for the planning of construction work and managing the environmental aspects of the projects.
