Soil Investigation – Archimedes Block, Bromma

Industrial activities have been carried out in the Ulvsunda and southern Mariehäll industrial areas since the late 19th century. Originally, the area housed a felt hat manufacturing facility, which later became a cigar factory and finally a factory for the production of outboard motors. The area is now being transformed from an industrial zone into a residential area with housing, parks, playgrounds, and a town square. Several architecturally significant buildings will be preserved and converted into housing and a preschool. The adjacent park will be renovated into a new playground and will eventually become part of a recreational footpath along the water of Bällstaviken.

As part of the project, Kemakta has assisted the City Development Department of Stockholm with soil investigations. The studies have involved sampling and analysis of soil, asphalt, groundwater, and rock masses. Soil masses have been classified, and excavation plans have been developed. Kemakta is currently involved in the project’s planning stages and is carrying out environmental monitoring throughout the various project phases.
